|UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women will lead and coordinate United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It will provide strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.
UN Women Bangladesh Country Office has planned for several events of strategic importance to UN Women’s mandate during the last quarter of 2017 and early 2018, including 16 days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, policy dialogues on Women and Migration, launching of a number of studies, and the preparation for Commission on the Status of WomenUN Women has also established a Women, Peace and Security Programme focused on increasing women’s participation and roles in peace and security issues. Additionally, the longstanding Violence Against Women Programme will further expand the areas of work. UN Women Bangladesh is therefore seeking a Strategic Communications Consultant that will support UN Women enhance its visibility and communicate its policy and behavior change messages effectively around through these events and progrmames.
The Consultant will work under the overall guidance of the Country Representative and direct supervision of the Programme Specialist; and in close collaboration with the programme teams,at the communication team of UN Women Regional Office for Asia-Pacific and Headquarters.

The total duration of the contract assignment will be 70 working days within a period from 15 October 2017 or date of signing the agreement to 31 March 2018.
